Requirements for Participation

Eligibility and team formation rules.

  1. This competition is open to both local and international participants.
  2. Individuals or teams comprising no more than 4 members and 1 team leader (maximum of 5 persons per team in total) are welcome to participate in the competition.
  3. In the tertiary level and school categories, teams should consist of no more than 4 members and 1 lecturer/ teacher in charge (a maximum of 5 persons per team). The team leader should be selected from among the students (NOT the teacher/ lecturer).
  4. Collaborative efforts with industries are encouraged without Intellectual Property (IP) infringement.
  5. The organiser reserves the right to reject any entry they deem unsuitable for the competition.

Judging Criteria

Projects are evaluated by an appointed panel.

  • Novelty — This is to ensure the originality and ingenuity of the product.
  • Commercial value — This is to ensure that IP ownership steps are taken and to assess the product's marketability in terms of profitability.
  • Social responsibility — This includes the product's practicality and usage for the community's benefit, and its ability to enhance a better and more comfortable way of living.
  • Overall design, display, and packaging — This includes the product's attractiveness, including the selection of its name, colour, practicality, user-friendliness, packaging, and so forth.
  • Video presentation — Brief, clear, and concise (maximum 5 minutes).
The jury’s decision is final, and no disputes or appeals will be entertained.
